Temple Independent School District emphasizes the importance of the arts and encourages a strong performing and visual arts program at all levels. Students at Lamar Middle School have the opportunity to begin or continue with a comprehensive arts education in the four arts disciplines:
- Choir
- Band
- Orchestra
- Theater
- Art

Off Campus Physical Education has been established by the Temple Independent School District and the Texas Education Agency as a way to accommodate state physical education requirements and student choices for electives at the middle school level. Middle school students may receive one half credit (.5) per semester for middle school credit only.
