Science

 

Students are are engaged in the study of scientific investigation and reasoning, matter and energy, force and motion, earth and space, and organisms and the environment, including a two-week unit on sexual health. Instructional time includes lab activities in which students conduct investigations. Eighth grade science is an interdisciplinary study of earth and space science as well as life and physical science. Topics of studies include laboratory safety, problem solving, force and motion, the periodic table of elements, light and sound, and the universe. 
 

Pre-AP Science

Pre-AP Science is a focused, fast-paced course that emphasizes research and discovery methodology as a basis for problem-solving with more depth and/or complexity. This course is interdisciplinary in nature and follows a more rigorous pace. Students are expected to participate in class discussions and labs, complete group or individual projects, complete written reports, and explore extensions. Grade 7 Pre-AP Science has a focus on organisms and their environment. Grade 8 Pre-AP Science has much of the content focus on earth and space science as well as life and physical science.
