Lamar will be celebrating and recognizing, DIA, Diversity In Action.  DIA, was founded by Pat Mora, who is a well-known children’s author. She writes to bring Mexican culture and traditions to children’s literature.

Here at Lamar we feel that diversity is important and that we should recognize and celebrate uniqueness. Our librarian, Mrs. Burnett works diligently to create collections so that all children can find books that they can relate to and understand.  Our event is open to the community and will be Monday, May 2nd from 5:30-7:30. Temple College and Dollar General, a corporate DIA sponsor, will be represented. We will be serving cake to celebrate DIA's “ 20th” birthday!
