Ashton Logan, former Lamar Bearcat, current Temple Wildcat and a Baylor University football commit, came to Lamar today to talk to our 8th graders about how the effects of poor grades, test scores and behavior have on athletes/students at Temple High School. Ashton explained that teachers, coaches and classmates all expect students to act appropriately in and out of the classroom, and to respect one another. He also said students who do not pass the STAAR test or high school classes are put in "trailer" classes for extra help, which means they lose an elective class that would have created opportunities for future careers or education. Ashton also explained to the students about the importance of good behavior, and that coaches look for students that show self-control, respect and civility in school.
Thank you so much Ashton for speaking with our students this morning! Best of luck to you in all that you do and Sic'Em Bears!!
